Research

HAS green academy is the centre of expertise par excellence for agriculture, food and the living environment in Den Bosch and Venlo. We use our knowledge and experience for education, research, advice and product development.

HAS green academy uses its expertise for research, advice and product development in collaboration with the professional field. The HAS is a partner for organizations, companies and governments in exploring, connecting and applying knowledge and skills.

Research agenda

13 professors and 50 lecturer-researchers collaborate with students, lecturers and professionals from the sector on a leading research agenda that involves practice-oriented research projects, both in the Netherlands and internationally. More information about international projects can be found at HAS International Projects.

Our society is rapidly changing. When it comes to climate, biodiversity and food supply, we are confronted with major social challenges that require new answers, innovative solutions and systematic thinking.

These issues have a direct impact on how we give shape to the HAS green academy research agenda. We are ambitious and feel a responsibility, with our expertise in agriculture, food and living environment, to contribute to practical solutions that make our world healthier.

Three research groups

Our research agenda is committed to establishing and expanding the following research groups:

  • Healthy food production: future proof agriculture and horticulture and sustainably produced food.
  • Healthy food and healthy living: healthy food production, a healthy food environment and healthy food choice behaviour.
  • Healthy ecosystems: a biodiverse and climate adaptive landscape.

In each research group multiple professorships collaborate on research topics, underlying research questions and associated projects. We are actively committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which enable us to measure our impact.
