The courses that you take are part of the second year of the BSc Horticulture and Business Management:

  • Cultivation Research (TA2406)
  • Future Farming 1 (HB2410)
  • Future Farming 2 (HB2411)
  • Cultivation project exchange
  • Personal Leadership exchange (EX0002)

Learning goals

After completion of this exchange, you are able to:

  • Understand basic knowledge of management, recognize organisational structures, carry out an analysis of various business processes and draw up a plan of improvement on this.
  • Understand statistics, breeding, (in vitro) multiplication of a vegetatively multiplicated crop and fertilizing.
  • Understand innovative cultivation systems, circular agriculture, biobased economy, big data, green health, nutrition and health and sustainable development goals.
  • Create a future image for a company based on current and future developments and innovations for a self-selected sector.
  • Cultivate and do research on a self-chosen and planted crop
  • Have insight into your personal en professional development

Admission requirements

English on the B2 level and basic knowledge of mathematics, biology, chemistry, horticulture and research design is required. It is recommended to have completed at least 1 year of higher education (bachelor) prior to the start.

Practical information

Literature

Most of the literature is provided in the digital environment of the courses. You need also (buy or rent) a laboratory coat and loupe. Books can also be reviewed at the study center of HAS green academy and also GreenI is a possibility.

Schedule

The exchange programme has a duration of 20 weeks (1 semester). 10 February 2025 is the starting date. However, the week before several (mandatory) introduction activities for international students are scheduled.  Your academic schedule most of the time includes 3 days of lectures at HAS and 1 day of online lectures. Also, one day is reserved for self-study, field trips and excursions. The final day of the semester is 11 July 2025.

Testing

The working methods during this exchange are varied: (guest)lectures, instructional lectures, seminars, practical’s, excursions, (group)projects, and field trips.
Assessment takes place by means of written tests, report writing, e-exams, breeding plan, projects, assignments, oral assessments and presentations.
Last but not least, you will be assigned a coach to discuss your personal and professional development.

Costs

Approximately 90 Euros for excursions and field trips. An international excursion week is optional for exchange students. The costs are not included.
