Flags at half mast for free and safe education

November 2nd 2020 - Today French schools commemorate the murder of Samuel Paty. The flags on the buildings of HAS University of Applied Sciences are therefore hanging at half mast. In doing so, HAS reflects on the importance of freedom of expression and a safe learning environment in which everyone is welcome, feels valued and can express and discuss his or her views freely.

In response to the events in France, Dutch education ministers Van Engelshoven and Slob called on educational institutions in our country to speak out for freedom of expression. HAS University of Applied Sciences wholeheartedly heeded this call.
