Research

HAS green academy is the centre of expertise par excellence for agriculture, food and the living environment in Den Bosch and Venlo. We use our knowledge and experience for education, research, advice and product development.

We are a partner for organisations, companies and authorities in exploring, connecting and applying ‘green’ knowledge and skills, and we work closely with other knowledge partners within the Centre of Expertise Green. This allows us to build bridges between knowledge development, the business community and society as a whole.

Through applied research, we collectively contribute to the creation of a healthy environment, with a sufficient supply of healthy food. We focus specifically on:

  • future-proof agriculture and horticulture, and sustainably produced food
  • healthy food products, food environment and food choice behaviour
  • a climate-robust and biodiverse living environment

We are actively committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which enable us to measure our impact.

Research programme

Our society is rapidly changing. When it comes to climate, biodiversity and food supply, we are confronted with major social challenges that require new answers, innovative solutions and systematic thinking.

These issues have a direct impact on how we give shape to the HAS green academy research programme. We are ambitious and feel a responsibility, with our expertise in agriculture, food and living environment, to contribute to practical solutions that make our world healthier.

Three key focus areas

Our research programme is committed to establishing and expanding the following key focus areas up to 2030:

  • Healthy food and healthy living
  • Healthy food production
  • Healthy living environment

Each focus area is underpinned by a unique research group, in which different research groups collaborate on research topics, underlying research questions and associated projects.
